A Life of Balance

A fitness enthusiast since childhood, Sarah was introduced to yoga in 2008 as a way to reduce injuries from competitive sports.  She instantly connected to the physical aspects of yoga and loved challenging herself with different poses including practicing handstands all over the world. In 2015, Sarah found a new connection to yoga that extended far beyond the physical poses. She turned to yoga as a way to gain emotional strength from the passing of her parents. Sarah believes that by connecting with a local community and developing a yoga practice she gained a new outlook on life and restored her well-being. Through yoga, she found emotional balance, physical and mental strength, and positivity on and off the mat. In 2017, her new yoga journey inspired her to complete a 200-hr Hatha Yoga certification in Costa Rica with GypSEA Yoga School. She hopes to serve as a source of strength for others and to inspire people to live their yoga everyday on and off the mat.

Yoga of 12 Step Recovery

Yoga for Trauma

Jenny has been working in the dental profession for over twenty years. Her draw towards yoga initially began many years ago to combat the occupational demands that dentistry can take on the body. When she became pregnant in 2013, she utilized yoga and meditation as a way to connect with her breath, understand her body, and prepare it for childbirth. After years of daily practice, it soon opened doors for her to a deeper relationship to the divine. It made her see herself more clearly, allowed more peace in her life, and gave her courage to speak her truth.

More recently her practice paved the way for her sobriety. It was during this dramatic life change that she really understood the connection of mind, body, and spirit as being one of the greatest sources for healing the whole ENTIRE self. She attributes her sobriety and personal healing journey to yoga and meditation and recognizes that without breath workand movement, “the issues will live in our tissues”. This realization is what catapulted her enrollment to Yoga Teacher Training at Jai Yoga School in 2018, knowing she had to share her experiences and assist others in their healing journeys. She graduated Jai with RYT 200 in May 2018. To serve the recovering community, in September 2018, she became Certified Y12SR (Yoga of 12 Step Recovery) Leader. She has been holding space for Y12SR in both Albany and Schenectady counties. In August 2019, she completed the Yoga for Trauma (Y4T) training and received certification. Since graduation she has taught yoga at Jai Yoga School, and currently teaches at Yoga Bliss on the Blvd., A Place Called Om, and Some Like It Hot Studio. She also completed the Advanced Reiki Master Training in the Usui System of Natural Healing.

Above all else, Jenny is a mother of two daughters. She realizes that the work we do to heal ourselves in this lifetime is the most crucial for inspiring change for our generations to follow. If not tackled, the addictions, traumas, and burdens we carry hold us down, and in turn weigh down the people surrounding us. She wants to inspire health and live by example, showing her girls and her community, that loving ourselves, service to others, and a deep connection to the divine, is truly what creates a joyous, peaceful, and more meaningful existence.

Yin and Yang

Yoga is my yin in a world of yang! The yoga mat allows me to be focused and balanced, connecting body, mind and breath. The yoga mat is my happy place.

As a young woman, I was faced with significant life challenges. Trying to find peace in a world of turmoil, I turned to yoga as a way to connect with my body and be present in the here and now. Not only has the practice of yoga helped me to deal with these challenges, it has brought great strength to my body and mind. And it has helped me to heal physically and mentally from the speed bumps of life.

My goal as a fitness professional and yoga teacher is to share my love of yoga with other yogi’s helping them to connect body, mind and breath. And to achieve all the physical and mental benefits that a consistent yoga practice can bring to their life.
